Buono!'s new single, MY BOY, is pretty awesome. It's got a great melody, and I WANT the dance shot outfits. I loved the PV, the spy concept was great, until the end.
At the very end where they open the box and you're like... WHAT THE HECK IS IN THAT BOX.
And then its cake.
orz
That just bothers me. It's too idol :/ I know they are meant to be idols, but still.
I love cake as much as the next person... but... ugh I don't know what to say about this.
I think it would have been better if they had gone into the room and ripped off their spy clothes to reveal the casual dance shot outfits and go back to dancing.
That's all for now. I've been feeling a bit meloncholy about blogging lately.
Well, I think I actually skipped last week. Oops. Still trying to get with the program.
Once again, oldest news first, newest news last.
Bye Bye Bye! PV does not impress
C-ute's new single, titled Bye Bye Bye! (with a B-side Go Go Go!) now has a PV and people (including myself) are not imprested. While the flashing sign in the background is cool, the rest is not. What a great song, wasted with a horrible PV.
Berryz Kobo return to their childish ways
After the song Dakishimete Dakishimete is released, we are all sure that Berryz has dropped the childish song and will start singing more mature songs. Bzzt. Their 20th single will be a double A-side, titled Seishun Bus Guide/TBA. Who else was reminded of Mini Moni?
Fujimoto Miki is... engaged?!
So you guys remember 2 years ago when Miki resigned from Morning Musume because she was caught dating Shouji Tomoharu? Well they didn't stop dating.
Looks like UFA has been loosening the no dating policy, as she will be continuing work.
Anyway, I'm really happy for Miki. It's great our favorite girls are finding their soulmates! They will be getting married this summer, and no, she is not pregnant.
Another Manoeri single
After the success of Mano Erina's major debut single, Otome no Inori, her 2nd single has been announced, titled Hajimete no Keiken.
A new unit!
Another new Shugo Chara! unit! This one is called Guardians 4, and consists of Mitsui Aika, Sugaya Risako, Kumai Yurina, and Nakajima Saki.
Their first single will be titled Omakase! Guardian. It will also be the new Shugo Chara! opening.
I wonder what the style of this group will be? (Buono! is pop rock, SCE! is bubblegum pop)
First of all, I want to apoligize for not updating much. The ice storm a few weeks ago totally threw off my schedual, and I've been trying to get back into the swing of things. My lights are actually flickering again right now... lets hope we don't lose power yet again.
I want to reveiw both the new C-ute and Buono! album, plus the two new Ice Creamusume PV's. But I'll have to wait for the weekend to do that...
Back to business :D Berryz Kobo's new PV, Dakishimete Dakishimete!
I know alot of us have not been licking (... licking? No I meant to say liking xD) Berryz's imagine lately, with all the childish singles. But they're album had alot of mature songs in it, and I think that was our clue that better things were on the horizon.
I am very happy. Its been a long week... I've got alot going on. So when I got home today, not only did I see more info on Mari's single, but the PV for Dakishimete Dakishimete and you can just imagine how excited I was.
The song starts with a bang, and I can see this being in the Dance genre as oposed to Pop. Everyone get lines (I think, I can't really remember Momoko), obviously not as many as Risako, but hell would freeze over if otherwise.
The dance is amazing. Chest thrusts (you know, they have stuff to do that now), its perfectly syncronized, and its intense.
Of course I think we all like that they're wearing casual outfits and not frilly dresses. Thats a big plus in my book.
Its great that UFA is going a little more high budget in their PV's. Obviously there's room for improvement, and I think they will get less stingy. I think 2009 will be a good year for Hello!Project, and I'll even go as far as saying that Dakishimete Dakishimete will be Berryz Kobo's best selling single.
Winds are picking up, I should wrap this up now.
Ice Creamusume has had alot of publicity lately, and thanks to that they've from #20 on the charts all the way to #11! Congrats Ices~
With their rising popularity, I've finally decided to sit down and do a track-by-track reveiw. I still stink at these but practice makes perfect xD
I got a paper cut, making it hard to type. Sorry for silly spelling/grammar mistakes D:
1) Lian Ai Deng Chang - I have to say, I thought maybe they'd all have cute voices, but they're REALLY SINGING. Its catchy, and its poppy, and ShenShen has a solo line. <3 She's pretty good x3
2) Zao An Ka Fei - Morning Coffee, eh? When they say coffee, it sounds more like cafe. I guess thats just the Chinese pronounciation. The new arrangment is nice, it makes the song more modern and actually alot nicer to listen to. The first person who's singing during the bridge has an... umm... interesting voice. I don't think she could hear herself during the recording session. I'll have to work on matching voices and faces later xD
3) Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai Darou? - The song in the album I've been anticipating the most. The Chinese name for it is Zai Mei You Yu Shui Zi Run De Zing Qui Shang Shi Wu Fa Fu Chu Ai De Ba? Wait, what? And I thought Ame no Furanai [...] was a long name! Well whatever, I love the song so much! And I kinda had a blonde moment while listening... as soon as the first chorus started I was like "OMGBBQ THATS JUNJUN'S LINE"
^^;
Guess it was kinda common sense to know that the song would 1) Be in Chinese and 2) Have JunLin's solo's in it.
I really like the arrangement, and I love when the drums come in. Drums always make songs better.
4) Lian Ai Ge Ming 21 - One thing: why didn't they take out the "Morning Musume" part? Thats all. RR21 is overdone so I was just like "Boring *skip*"
5) Go Girl ~Lian Ai Sheng Li~ - The other song I was anticipating the most, Go Girl ~Koi no Victory~ was the first Morning Musume song I ever heard, so this song has been near and dear to my heart. I love Chinese, its so pretty and I envy people who can speak it xD So yeah, I like this. Alot. There isn't any new arrangement, but thats fine.
6) Debut! ~Koi Suru Kado ni wa Fuku Kitaru~ - OK, so this sounds just like Lian Ai Deng Chang only in Japanese. SO WHY IS THERE A DIFFERENT TITLE? Ugh.
I like the Chinese version better.
7) Zao An Ka Fei (Japense Version) - OK, I like this so much better than the Chinese version. That first solo line... GOOSEBUMPS. The vocals are just so much better in this version, and it just sounds better in Japanese. I don't know why.
With both Lian Ai Ge Ming 21 and Ame no Furanai Hoshi de wa Aisenai Darou? PV's due any day now, its exciting to see how well the album continues to sell, and once they start performing at the H!P concerts, I'll be able to match voices and faces :D
What a nice little surprise after going to the dentist and being told you might possibly have cavities :D
And what perfect timing, as America will go into a new era with President Elect Barack Obama being sworn in tomorrow, its also a new era for Goto Maki. The PV for her Avex debut, Fly Away! It says SWEET BLACK feat. GOTO MAKI but umm... it looks 100% Gocchin + backup dancers. Or maybe the backup dancers are SWEET BLACK. Or maybe theres someone singing in the background. Grrr I don't know xD I never did understand those "so-and-so feat. so-and-so" things.
So the PV starts out with Gocchin. In a bed. Doing really sexy stuff.
OK, um.
Its like watching v-yu-den PVs and lives all over again! You don't want your parents to walk in on you, am I right? I mean, Gocchin did sexy stuff while in H!P too, but never to this extent.
It took me a while to understand why her face was almost completely obscured. Now I think I've come up with the reason: Because she's been out of the public spotlight for SO LONG. We haven't seen her. And then, as she's taking the various masks off, its her way of saying "I'm back."
Unless theres some other meaning in the lyrics. That I can't understand xD
I love the song. Its so catchy. I think they could have made the PV more like the song, though. Like maybe cutting out the sexy bed scenes and replacing it with some scenes of her outside, on a sunny day, kinda just looking at the sky. I think that would fit the "Fly away" parts much better.
I really want to support Gocchin and her debut in Avex, and so I reallyyyyy hope that iTunes get this (since its a digital release only). I think they will. BoA's US debut was a digital release only and iTunes had it.
Welcome back Maki :D
Morning Musume's new PV, Naichau Kamo! For some reason it wouldn't let me embed ^^;
What can I say? Its sexy, its creative, and its pretty.
I guess I'll make a Good & Bad list.
The Good:
- Umbrella and streamer backdrop is creative
- Song starts off with a bang
- Crying scenes look real - but according to Reina they were done with eyedrops
- Dance is EPIC
- JunJun... I love her! <33
- Close up scenes with the window is creative, and looks good
- Ai's a good actor... but... (see The Bad)
- LinLin looks amazing!
- Great outfits -- both the dance and casual ones.
- Colors look good together (the blue, white, red, and greens)
- The song! KAMO KAMO KAMO
The Bad:
- ... I don't like it when Ai cries
- Why is their dancing Latin looking but the song is rock-ish?
- The hula dancing durin the instrumental break is not needed.
- Reina looks like she's going to puke in the rain scenes.
So why am I crying tears of joy? The PV has a danceshot, close ups, and a somewhat story part! And even though its not much of a story, plain awesomeness of the song and the scenes in the PV make up for that.
And heres the eycandy :D
LinLin's like the only person who didn't just stand there during the rain scenes.
JUNJUN
The new PV's for Buono!'s co no michi and Kusumi Koharu's Hapi Hapi Sunday! make me have a little more faith in UFA now, as opposed to when I saw Ice Creamusume's debut PV.
Lets start with Hapi Hapi Sunday!, shall we? ;D
It starts off the same way Pa Pancake started off, with a TV, which is also the way Koi Kana started off (if I remember correctly >.<) Not only that, but its alot like Pa Pancake and Chance! because, once again, she's in a room with a bunch of stuff.
I like the beginning. Its... interesting... but cool. And, not only that, but Koharu seems to be working on making her voice *gasp* LESS SQUEEKY!
While I HATE her costume with the wings with a passion (its all furry...) I do love the casual outfit.
Obviously she's going on a date. On a Sunday. :D
Um so thats all I have to say about this song, other than the fact that those fairy wing things are FAIL.
Best for last! Buono!!
OK so when the PV first starts and you see the road, am I the only one who thought "Holy crap its Koi no Dance Site!"
Seriously. Am I the only one? GUYS?
They are REALLY good at high notes. Another reason Buono! is win.
I love the concept of "traveling the world". I know it all looks fake and obviously green-screened, but the style is unique and interesting. I think it looks like a scrapbook -- a bunch of pictures of certain places cut out and pasted onto one sheet of paper.
And.. high budget?! O.o 5 different costumes! THANK YOU UFA OR PONY CANYON OR WHOEVER DOES THESE PVS.
I think my only problem with the PV is just a little bit of my OCD saying "in the beach scene, they're walking slower than the background is moving."
And thats all.
OH HEY. Who saw Buono! live on Ameba last night? I kinda missed it. Like, I had the window up and figured them talking would wake me up, but instead I had one of those dreams where you think the sounds you hear in real life are actually just sounds in your dream. >.<
OK thanks for reading me ramble! xD
1st Zui Bang! reveiw soon, if I have time (this week I have finals). And still looking for some Engrist T-shirts. Only found 3 so far... Dx
You know what they say: Perfection is acheived not when theres nothing left to be added, but when theres nothing left to take away.
If this is true, UFA is just so perfect and amazing. Because the PV for Ice Creamusume's song Debut! ~Koi Suru Kado ni wa Fuku Kitaru~ is pretty much... nothing. You'd think maybe it would be different than the Chinese version, but its exactly the same.
UFA, you're pissing me off. Ugh. I totally want to go and just curse right now.
I mean seriously, white background? Matching outfits? Sunglasses and bubble blowers as props?
Honestly I'd have to say this PV costs... $100. And I'm serious. Just go and buy some cheap-o props at the Dollar Store, get a nice big white sheet, and make the costumes.
But lets ignore the cheap PV for a second.
The dance. Its simple, but I think its appropiate since they're just now debuting. They don't really move together, and once again, they're just now debuting. They need some time to really get to know eachother. Can't you just sense the akwardness? I mean its not like they're first time meeting eachother, maybe like the 10th time (I'm just guessing -- recording, dance practices, ect)? They probably haven't been together much, therefor they're still a little shy.
The closeups. It looks like they're all new to idoling. Well, what a surprise. They all overdo it a bit, except maybe Youko. I bet she watched a bunch of close up versions of PV's before filming. ShenShen is cute though, she opens her mouth really big on any word with "o" in it. I think ReiRei looks the most akward, PeiPei running in second.
Finally, the song. I like it, its poppy but its catchy. I would prefer something mature, and besides the youngest member, Guu-chan, 12, danced to My Humps for her final audition. And ShenShen belly dances. So they can pull off the mature look, but with a name like Ice Creamusume, what was I thinking? But really, I like the song. They're voices blend well together, I'm hoping they sound just as good live. ShenShen. You just can't not love her. Her solo at the end is great <3 Obviously her voice needs more training, but I think she can become an Aichan or Reina in the future. She sounds better in the Chinese version.
I'm happy to say that during the auditions while everyone was obsessing over Youko (Lightbulb), I was obsessing over ShenShen, and now it seems ShenShen is everyone's favorite member. x3
As I said before, I still support Ice Creamusume 100%. Its not their fault their PV sucked, right? I'm sure if they were given the opprutunity to make up the PV... well it would be pure fun chaos! I'll be anticipating their improvement and future releases :D Can't wait to hear the Chinese version of Morning Coffee.
I know, I know. I'm not a fan of THE Possible. Shock. But I took the time to watch their latest PV and I was inpressed. The song actually reminds me of I WISH, so thats what really got me addicted.
I remember watching the Happy 15 & Love Message PV and, while I loved the loli outfits and the rock band aspect, I did not like the song. At all. I've had to dub Young Days!!! once, and was not impressed with that song either. On the other hand, Ijiwaru Crazy Love was pretty epic and I was rather impressed. But lost interest in them a little bit, mostly because I couldn't find much out about them. All I really know is that they were all former H!P Eggs, one of the members (Robin?) lived in Massachusetts, and that they are now with Nice Girl Project.
With THEPPN down, and Wikipedia failing at H!P, I had to resort to forums to match names and faces. But enough of me complaining, lets get down to Shiawase no Katachi.
When the PV starts, I just "awww'd" because... baby pictures are too cute x3 I like the whistling despite it most likely being synthesized in a recording studio. The beginning is very mellow and slow and pretty, and then the cool somewhat beat-boxing starts and they start dancing and I'm thinking "Holy cow they're talented."
It looks like theres no favoriting of members here, they all have solos (I think). The only thing is unequal screentime, but honestly I don't really care about that.
The girl who starts singing around 1:14 of the video (Hashimoto Aina, I think?) has pipes O.o She is GOOD. But to be honest all of them have good voices, and thats another reason I really like them.
I'm just gonna end this post another song by them I like alot, Kaze wo Uwasa. I remember seeing them perform this at an H!P concert.
So if anyone knows of any good sites where I can find info on THE Possible, please by any means post it in the comments!
The PV for Buono!'s fifth single, Lotta Love Lotta Love, also known as Rottara Rottara. I'm not quite sure how to write it as. Wikipedia says Lotta Love Lotta Love.
It seems like just yesterday Gachinko de Ikou! was released xD
Anyway, the PV starts with really fake clapping, which doesn't really make sense until you get about a minute in and you see the TV cameras. I don't know if those were just bad planning on the videograhper's part, or intentional. But yeah so after you see the cameras you realise "Oh, they're supposed to be on a 60's TV show." which doesn't really make sense because if it were some TV show like Music Figther or Utaban or whatever they would have microphones. Maybe they didn't use microphones in the 60's. Or maybe Buono! is just too cool to use microphones.
If the PV was really going to be based on some 60's TV show, couldn't they have added a "story" part where they're like getting ready to go on and sing or something? It would surely make the PV more interesting than a dance shot and a close up.
The dresses are cute, but why make Buono! wear them? They're a pop-rock group, not bubblegum pop. I wish they had worn something less little girl looking that still fit with the PV's color scheme.
And lastly, so this post doesn't end on a sour note, the song is amazing! And even though the PV sucks, I'm going to ignore that because the awesomeness of the song is blinding.
I asked for punk rock and got bubblegum pop xD So does this mean that if I ask for bubblegum pop I'll get punk rock?
