Welcome to Wota Wonderings! We are a group of English-speaking Japanese music bloggers brought together once a month to answer questions posed by johpan. We strive to be creative and entertaining, and we may even shed a bit of new light on interesting musical and cultural topics. Any questions about how we work should be directed to johpan. Don't forget to check out the other posts from this month at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!
Hoping we're not all shallow wotas, imagine your favourite idol (or musical personality) switched bodies with someone you don't find "visually pleasing", would it affect your love for that idol in any way/shape/form?
Sorry joh, I'm shallow. Well a little. If Yaguchi Mari or any other Hello!Project girl weren't "visually pleasing", I'm sure I'd warm up to them. I don't base my judgements off of looks. Most of the time at least. If I see someone like Miss California, for sure I'm going to think they are a stuck-up snob. Thats that.
This brings me to a Korean drama my sister and I watched together. It was called "200 Pounds of Beauty", which I reveiwed here. Our veiw of beauty is horribly distorted. We've all seen horribly airbrushed pictures of H!P girls, we all know their pictures are photoshopped. It's easy for graphic designers to make someones arm fat disappear, or to give someone abs. A majority of us, I myself sometimes, judge too quikly. We need to give people a chance before we make negative assumptions of them.

Another month, another Wota Wonderings. Last month I misunderstood the question, and didn't check my email in time. Oops. ^^;
This month, the topic is on love. Because, you know, its February.
And so... johpan challenges us to find the best example of idol love.
Gosh joh, that's hard O.o After alot of deep thinking (actually, no, not really), I figured that to me, showing your idol that you love (or as I would like to say, "look up to") them is by putting effort into something for them. It could be saving your money for a year or two so that you could travel to Japan and see them live, or it could be that you wait in line for hours at concerts all the time, never loosing excitment that in a few hours you'll be seeing your idol live. But it could also mean art, such as composing a poem for them, drawing a picture for them, or transposing one of their songs to a musical instrument.
When it comes to showing love artistically, I went over to deviantART, and visited some of my favorite H!P artist's pages:
http://klsadako.deviantart.com/
http://boinsie.deviantart.com/
I've even tried my hand at H!P visual art.
http://yukifangirl.deviantart.com/ As you can tell, photography is more my thing than drawing xD
Musically, theres the ever popular and totally awesome P-chu, who transposes and adds his own twist to many H!P songs on piano, and epic remixer Kirarin☆Snow ☃.
As for me showing my love to idols, obviously drawing isn't my thing. I did find some flute sheet music for several H!P songs, but my flute is old and squeeks so I would never post my stuff on the internet. I can't travel to Japan and see my idols live because of my severe anxiety, so it seems my only way of giving my idol love is buying their work.
But wait.
I'm a photographer, aren't I?
My dream has always been to shoot a photobook for an H!P artist, and while I know that won't happen anytime soon, maybe I could get some practice in.
I conceived this crazy idea on Saturday and have since been downloading things for it.
My idea is... to make a photobook using the Sims 2.
The Sims 2 does offer photo-taking options, and I could totally go for an artisitc approach.
So, I've been downloading custom content and intend to start my project this weekend. Wish me luck?
That concludes my second Wota Wonderings, but more like my first because my real first one was pretty bad xD
So far (as much as I know), the only other response is by ♥Lovely♥Takahashi♥
So, me and a few other bloggers (honestly I'm not sure who/how many) are answering monthly questions proposed johpan about J-music. You can contact him here if you have any questions.
This month, the first month of 2009, the question is: If you were the Japanese music industry, what would your New Year's resolution be?
WELL. If I were to be famous (WHICH WOULD BE AMAZING) I think my goal for the new year would be to understand how the industry works: from machinery functions to what each staff member does.
Can you see my inner geek rubbing off?
I think I'd also like to improve. I know, I know, generic response. But unless this idol version of me had perfect balance and stanima, I would definatly struggle with dancing. And my voice needs boatloads of training.
I'm going to end this post before it becomes a little too personal. Joh, I can't wait to respond to your next question ^^ Great idea dude. Plus now I'll be forced to check my email! xD
Arrivederci~
Oh wait, thats Italian.
